@rmanalan - In todays UI paradigms, I think that HTML5 apps are the endgame. In the Iron Man multimodal paradigm, I'm not as sure. Do you carry spare battery packs for your EVO? If I actually use my phone in a way that I consider moderate, It barely lasts a day.

Sophia,
I pretty much leave my laptop docked to my large display in the office, and take my iPad to meetings (which unfortunately, I have a lot of). There's no way either the iPhone or my MacBook Pro can survive an entire day of meetings on batteries. As to price, these things are all silicon. The price *will* be coming down. Watch what happens when the Android tablets hit later this year.

nice review/comparison.

I like the iPhone, but the Droid is pretty too. I didn't think too much of its functioning, though. Just played with it for a day.

I use my MacBook too much for writing for the iPad to really replace it, but I wish I could justify spending that much on a toy. In my world iPhone + MacBook = my brain.

I actually prefer the iPad for an e-book platform. The backlighting is kind to my aging eyes. I also like it for games, movies, photos, etc. But, still, way to pricey for a toy.

That's my 2 cents as a non-programming user.

The best thing about the iPhone vs. Android conundrum is that in both platforms WebKit is the browser of choice which makes mobile web app development a strong future. I still think there are a lot of features needed for mobile web apps to trump native app dev, but I'm confident that it's coming. BTW, give the EVO a try. Love mine!
